Our mission is to help learners defeat literacy challenges and overcome the barriers to becoming more literate, confident and engaged to the best of their ability in their homes, communities and places of work.

Your dollars will help change our communities by providing instructional services to adults and families throughout Jefferson County to improve literacy.

One of the best ways to get involved is by volunteering. We are always looking for new volunteer tutors to share their time and experience the joy of teaching and learning with us!

Building Strong Communities Through Literacy

The JCLC started as a small organization in 2001 to serve those facing literacy challenges in our communities. Since then, the Council has served hundreds of learners, guiding them in improving their literacy, job and life skills.
